About us
Daniel has been building things with his hands for as long as he can remember; from welding and woodworking to screen printing and soap making. Raised with a love for craftsmanship and a natural eye for design, Daniel earned a degree in both art & mathematics and spent nearly two decades teaching high school math and welding. In that time, he not only passed on practical skills but also instilled in his students a belief in the value of doing things well, doing them patiently, and doing them by hand.
That same philosophy guides everything at D. Wieman Leatherwork. Each wallet, belt, bag, or custom leather-patch hat is carefully designed, cut, and hand or machine stitched by Daniel himself. No shortcuts. No outsourcing. Just honest leather goods that reflect a deep respect for the material, the process, and the person who’ll carry the finished product.

The Story Behind the Elephant
The elephant in the D. Wieman Leatherwork logo carries a deeply personal meaning. It’s a quiet tribute to Daniel's late brother, whose favorite animal was the elephant. As kids, Daniel remembers how his brother was captivated by them at the zoo, drawn to their presence, their strength, and their gentle nature. Elephants are known for their powerful memory, emotional depth, and unbreakable family bonds — they mourn, protect, and stay connected for life. Including the elephant in the brand is Daniel's way of carrying his brother forward — a symbol of family, loyalty, and the things that never really leave us.
